A Beautiful Wedding

June 29, 2009

I know Albert since my secondary school days. I always remember him as someone with good leadership, witty and impressive diplomatic skills. Time flew real fast and in the blink of an eye, we are all grown ups and each go separate ways with our own life.

I feel as if I had just knew him yesterday, and had just came back from  the school a moment ago (as I write this I insisted myself to play the song ‘Yesterday Once More’). Now he is happily married to a beautiful princess and I am glad that I can be part in his big day.

malaysia-weddingWho’s photo are they busy taking at? See photo below…

malaysia-weddingOf course must be taking the photo of the groom and all his handsome friends. LOL. Actually they were (we all were!) busy taking the photo of the bride and groom kissing. And certainly you’re not going to find that photo here. You have to ask Albert personally to see it.

As the warming up of the up coming Borneo Cultural Festival, a drawing  & colouring contest (Sponsor: EON Bank Sibu) and essay writing competition (Sponsor: Rimbunan Sawit Berhad) were held in Cityvine Riverside.

The colouring and drawing contest, with Family Value as the theme, were held in the morning meanwhile the essay writing competition took place in the afternoon.

About 40 students took part in the essay writing competition. The title was - How To Promote Sibu As A Preferred Choice of Visit.

A very easy title which sent almost all the participants into high fever! LOL!

First of all, goodbye to my sister and all the students who are entering their university life. Trust me, learn all you can, play all you afford and save every cent you could. This is the most fun and inspiring period of your life and after it ends, you are going to miss it dearly.

After graduation, you may end up on a job totally alien to what your scroll entitles you to. You may want to land yourself, like me, purposely, on a career which have nothing to do with what you had learned because you feel that life is short and in order to chase after your dream, you know you have to start it immediately or it is never going to happen.

Nonetheless most of the students today are very lucky compared to my days. I have to carry the heavy monitor and CPU along with me because all assignments have to be typed and printed. Coupled together with my luggage, you won’t want to know how heavy and how much penalty I received from MAS. (By the way, why I never thought of buying those gadgets after I reached there?)

When I was doing my assignment and research, I have to queue up at library to use the Internet service (which was slower than any snail in the world). If you’re richer, you can just spend hours inside the cyber cafe to do your work - and accompanied by the tempting shooting sounds of Counter Strike and Red Alert. “Fire in the hole!”

My sister is one of those lucky ones. A laptop and a Celcom broadband imported right away from Sibu. No more headache and no more worries. And that left me disconnected from the world at home because the broadband modem is with her.

I asked around and a colleague of mine told me she know a shop in Foochow Lane. I was urgently in need of the the Internet connection because my sis is leaving on the next day. So I called the shop right away, asking for quote, confirmed my purchase and requested them to activate the line straight away.

They informed that me that I need to fill in a form and submit a photocopy  of IC before they can activate it. It was working hour and that seems impossible - unless I scan my IC and e-mail to them. Nonetheless the most pleasant thing was - they offered to meet me at my office - to deliver the modem and let me fill the form. They also helped to inform Celcom to activate the line within the same day -and everything goes as promised!

I am very impressed with the service and nowadays, such impressive business etiquette and efficiency is almost a non-existence unless you’re paying a premium for it. As such I feel that this shop deserves a good mention here - Summer Cellular Enterprise, Lot 9 beside main road @ Foochow Lane.

By the way I do not know who the owner is and how he looked like.  We only spoke over the phone. If you need his contact number -which is not displayed here, please drop me a message.

P/s: I bought the Movistar modem - more user friendly compared to the Vadaphone modem which is used by my sis.
